Academic Advising

Transfer Students

Approximately one in 10 undergraduate students at Rice are transfer students. The Office of Academic Advising is committed to helping make transfer students' transition to Rice University and its academic system easier. Depending on the specific situation and the number of credits completed at the previous institution(s), transferring to Rice can involve a degree of leg work that can be completed only after arriving on campus. Rice’s advising system is designed to allow individual contact with faculty advisors. Advising prior to matriculation at Rice is not necessary. However, for both fall and spring matriculation, the Office of Academic Advising helps host a Transfer Orientation during which all questions can be answered.
