Fall 2009 Rice Nights

O-Week Night at the
Houston Museum of Natural Science

7pm, Thursday, August 20
New students and their advisors will have the Museum
(including access to Ghenghis Khan: the Exhibit) to themselves.

 Houston Symphony Orchestra Concert
8pm, Thursday, September 17
Jones Hall
Hans Graf, conductor and Ingrid Fliter, piano
W. Schuman: Showcase - A Short Display for Orchestra
Chopin: Piano Concerto No. 2
Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 5
A private reception will follow.

 “Engaging the World through Art”
at the Museum of Fine Arts
5-7pm, Friday, September 25 
Caroline Wiess Law Building

The Passport to Houston program, in conjunction with Families Weekend and the Rice Centennial invites Rice students and their families to a reception at the Museum of Fine Arts. A shuttle will be available from the Sallyport to the MFAH from 1 – 7 pm.

Houston Grand Opera’s “Elixir of Love”
7:30pm, Wednesday, November 4
Brown Theater, Wortham Center
Sung in Italian with English Supertitles

This sparkling folktale is one of Donizetti’s most popular operas. Lovesick Nemorino falls madly in love with the young landowner Adina knowing well that she is out of his league. Luckily, the scheming Dr. Dulcamara has just the cure to what ails him.
A private reception with a “Potatotini Bar” will follow.
