Recitation Sessions

Numerous courses at Rice have regularly scheduled class recitations and/or tutorials in addition to the normal lectures. The sessions are intended to enable students to gain a better understanding of the course material or to clarify material presented in class by the instructor. Recitations or tutorials may cover important material not covered in lectures. Many of the courses with recitations or tutorials are large, introductory, distribution courses with enrollment of students representing a variety of academic interests or majors. If a course has recitations or tutorials, students are strongly encouraged to attend—some sessions are mandatory.
