Passport to Houston offers a Rice-issued Q Card that allows you unlimited access to METRO during the academic year. Your card was valid from August 17, 2007, until May 28, 2008. Please note that this means your card has been cancelled.
If you want to utilize METRO during the summer you are eligible for a 50% student discount on all METRO fares. To receive this discount you will need to provide your Rice ID and a letter from Rice verifying that you are a full-time student. You may obtain an enrollment verification letter from the Registrar’s office. Information on obtaining the letter is available on the web at: http://registrar.rice.edu/enrollmentverification.aspx.
Once you have the letter and your Rice ID you will need to visit a Metro RideStore to get a new Q card. Please see Metro’s website for full details regarding your student discount: http://www.ridemetro.org/FareInfo/Discounted_Fare.aspx.

The only way to get a student discount is by having a Q-Card. You cannot use cash to buy fares on the rail or bus and get a student discount. For more Q Card information call Metro at 713-635-4000.
