Jan.31, CO2 Forum (7:00-9:30 pm, RMC Grand Hall) & Sustainability Fair (4-7 pm, RMC). Forum speakers will include President David Leebron, Mayor Bill White, Dr. Neal Lane, and John Hofmeister (President of Shell USA). This event is part of Focus the Nation, a landmark event featuring teach-ins and educational fora on "global warming solutions" at more than 1,000 colleges universities. Oct. 10, 7 pm, The Baker Institute Student Forum presents "The Power of the Sun," a 1-hour documentary on solar energy produced by Nobel Laureates Walter Kohn and Alan Heeger, and narrated and hosted by Monty Python's John Cleese. Dr. Daniel Cohan of Rice's Civil and Environmental Engineering Department will speak on the topic, his research, and take questions from the audience.
